International Teachers Training Institute

The transformation that the education system in India has been undergoing during the last one decade or so is characterized by unprecedented challenges and opportunities. While a section of the population gets access to specialized trainings in their fields, the majority learns by trial and error because many new fields have come up and no specialized trainings are available.

The teaching course of ITTI that leads to the award of Certificate of CeTTAL (Certified Teacher for Teaching Adult Learners) is based on International teaching pedagogy. It is designed by experts who have taught in various International Universities and have acquired the expertise of teaching Adult Learners through extensive training and experience.

The CeTTAL takes the faculty through an intensive and structured program that experientially trains them in developing facilitation skills, dealing with a diverse student population, establishing and measuring well formed course outcomes, critical thinking skills, amongst other aspects of teaching adults. The duration of the certification is 40 hours, typically spread over nine weeks.

The International Teacher Training Institute (ITTI) is a part of the Centre for Excellence at MAII. ITTI trains and certifies faculty for teaching adult learners effectively.

Malcolm Knowles, a pioneer in the study of adult learning, observed that adults learn best when:

  • They understand why something is important to know or do.
  • They have the freedom to learn in their own way.
  • Learning is experiential.
  • The time is right for them to learn.
  • The process is positive and encouraging.
