Emotional Support

There are often times in life when certain issues or life events cause emotional distress, problems in relationships or change how we view ourselves. Often, individuals become overwhelmed with their emotions or have problems in their relationships. You may have difficulty concentrating at work or school, withdraw from friends and family, or find your emotional pain to be unbearable. You may feel anxious or unhappy for days at a time, can't sleep, lose your appetite, or have problems communicating. A trained professional can help you through these difficulties and teach you the skills to handle issues and problems on your own.

Counseling is something that everyone could probably use at one time or another for help with problems, overcoming bad habits, developing new skills, sorting out emotionally confusing situations, dealing with difficult relationships, confronting family issues, or getting clearer about life in general. A psychiatric diagnosis is not necessarily part of the picture. Counseling is a "wellness resource" for you, your family and loved ones.

Peer pressure, Fierce competition, expectations, conflicts and health problems have severe psychosocial consequences. The emotional wounds may be less visible than the destruction of homes and physical infrastructure, but it often takes far longer to recover from the emotional and psychological impact than to overcome the material losses. Psychosocial needs affect all other aspects of humanitarian work, such as shelter, food distribution and basic health care. Provision of traditional relief aid is, therefore, not enough. Neglecting emotional reactions may result in passive victims rather than active survivors. Early and adequate psychosocial support can prevent distress and suffering from developing into something more severe, and will help affected people cope better and reconcile themselves to everyday life.
